I'm an old surfer dawg that has a passion for surfing. Each year I spend just about every weekend from March to November down on the OBX in Hatteras. I also spend several weeks vacationing there. You could probably say that I am obsessed with surfing in which has cost me two marriages even though I still remain friends with them. During the winter months I like to ltake a trip somewhere south for a week or so in the Caribbean’s. I'm not a cold weather person as you can see.
I consider myself a pretty laid-back individual that rarely gets upset over anything. My life style is that of Hawaiian shirts, Khaki pants and flip-flops. After a long surf session, I enjoy cooking out and having drinks on the deck or if too tired, dining out is nice. I enjoy movies on occasion, as long as they are action or comedy. OK, a chick flick every now and then is alright. I cannot lie about one thing and that is enjoying my recliner watching comedies and drinking an adult beverage.
I also retired from the federal gov’t after 39 years in August 2012. I am back to work as a gov’t contractor, but only on a 3 day work-week contract (Tuesday thru Thursday). This gives me a 4 day weekend every week. Who knows how long I’ll continue on with this? I guess it depends on how the stars and moon line up and what the future will bring.
It would be nice to find someone that’s retired or close to it and loves the beach as much as I do. I'm not just talking maybe a couple of hours on the beach then packing up and leaving but usually an all-day affair. This person would have to be tolerable of me surfing an average of 4 to 6 plus hours a day, depending on the wave conditions, but taking a break every now and then to eat and drink. Hopefully she is as laid-back as I am and one that doesn’t want to change the person I’ve been all my life.
Just to add for those that haven't been down to Hatteras I'm not talking about walking and hauling everything you have to the beach, but we drive right down to the ocean front in our 4WD's and unload, surf, have cookouts and such. Good times with a great crowd of friends. I’m not the type to have animals as it doesn’t fit my life style with the beach, plus I should add that I am allergic to cats and dogs, sorry. I do have many friends with pets and I adjust. I have two grown-up kids, a son and daughter in their upper thirties, along with three grandkids that I love very much. I also take the grandkids down to beach with me every now and then as they love it there and are trying to surf.
